Ear Candling

Benefits of ear candles

Importantly, the treatment is wonderfully relaxing, invokes a deep sense of security and feelings of calm and happiness. Ear candles are said to be able to treat: colds, sinusitis, catarrh, hayfever and rhinitis, headaches and migraines, vertigo and labyrinthitis, other inner ear pressure and balance problems, hearing loss, blocked ears, tinnitus and menieres, snoring, loss of smell, glue ear, travel sickness and many other earaches and pain.

Ear candle treatments can be enhanced when combined with Reiki, Indian Head Massage movements and face massages.

As with most holistic therapies, Ear Candling is an ancient natural therapy, descending from Asia, Greece, Siberian Prairies and most notably, Native America (where the name Hopi Ear Candles originated from).

How the ear candles work

Ear candles are not medical devices. The candles used are handmade hollow tubes of organic cotton, impregnated with pure beeswax, honey, sage, St. John’s Wort, chamomile and Beta-carotene (vitamin A).

Honey – considered to have a calming effect on the mind and promotes sleep.

Sage – An anti-inflammatory and astringent, encouraging the constriction of blood vessels to reduce blood flow and mucous secretions.

St. John’s Wort – An anti-inflammatory and astringent which relaxes and restores the central nervous system.

Chamomile – An anti-inflammatory, astringent and relaxant.

Beta-carotene – Fights infections and strengthens the immune system.

All of the ingredients combined have anti-septic properties which can fight infections.

The treatment increases blood flow and stimulates lymphatic drainage, restoring balance and enabling your body to correct many problems. The candles are placed just inside the ears. The light vortex action and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the ear canal, generating a massage-like, warming effect. It is these movements which create the ideal environment for the body to rid itself of excess mucous in the middle ear, inner ear, sinuses and nose, resulting in a balance of pressure and reduction of symptoms.

An ear candle cannot be performed if people have: current ear tubes or grommets, perforated ear drums, artificial ear drums, recent inner ear surgery (less than 3 months), current ear infection, auricular cysts or allergies to any of the ear candle ingredients.

As with all treatments, a full consultation will be completed prior to treatment, to ensure ear candling is right for you. I will then discuss a treatment plan with you, most suitable for your body, your problems and concerns.
